A 13-year-old Louisville girl is dead and a 15-year-old boy is charged with her death after a Friday afternoon shooting.
Police Chief Erika Shields said officers were notified about an individual wounded in a shooting earlier in the afternoon.
When the officers arrived, they found the 13-year-old girl who had been shot. Officers attempted life-saving measures before the girl was taken to a hospital, Shields said. The girl later succumbed to her injuries.
The girl died after being rushed to the hospital after the shooting on Elane Drive in the St. Dennis neighborhood.
Lousiville Metro Police Department officials say a 15-year-old boy has been charged with 2nd Degree Manslaughter.
Officials believe the shooter and the victim knew each other and that the shooting does not appear to be random.
Shields said it was still unclear if an illegal gun was involved in this shooting.
