Kentucky shoppers said they were scared for their lives when a Tuesday afternoon police chase ended with an officer-involved shooting in a busy Louisville shopping center.
An officer with the Louisville Metro Police Department shot suspect, Darrell Browning, Tuesday afternoon at Hikes Point and Champions Trace Circle, a shopping center that included a Walmart, Target and Kroger.
The chase began after the Saint Matthews Police Department reported a stolen white Dodge Ram to LMPD.
Soon after an LMPD officer spotted Browning driving a similar truck. The chase ended at approximately 2:45 p.m. at the shopping center.
Witnesses told local news sources that they were scared for their lives when they saw the suspect firing a gun after hitting several cars in the area.
The officer in the chase exchanged gunfire, striking Browning, according to an LMPD spokesman. Browning was then taken to a hospital.
Browning’s condition is unknown.
