Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has directed the Revenue Department to extend the deadline for residents to file their state income taxes.

The date was extended from April 15 to May 17, a statement from the Finance and Administration Cabinet said. The move comes after the federal tax filing deadline was also moved to the same date in response to delays and disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

This postponement applies to individual taxpayers only, officials said.

It does not apply to estimated tax payments that are due on April 15, 2021 by people whose income isn’t subject to income tax withholding. It also does not apply to other types of state taxes including corporation income tax, limited liability entity tax and sales tax.
