Approximately 1,000 Family Dollar stores across the country will be closed over the next several years with 600 closures coming in the first half of 2024, its parent company Dollar Tree Inc. announced early Wednesday.

In its fourth quarter earnings report released early Wednesday Dollar Tree Inc., said it would close 600 stores in the first half of 2024 with another 370 locations slated for closure in the next few years as store leases expire.

The closures come as part of a “portfolio optimization review” the company said.

Currently, Dollar Tree Inc. operates approximately 16,500 Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores in America.
