Kentucky state and local police were searching for a suspect after five people were shot and two injured in a traffic accident related to the shooting along a stretch of Interstate 75.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported “numerous persons have been shot” Saturday evening.
A stretch of I-75 was temporarily closed due to what police said was an active shooter situation approximately 9 miles north of London, Kentucky.
Police later re-opened the Interstate and identified the identity of a person of interest, Joseph A. Couch.
Police said Couch should not be approached as he was considered armed and dangerous.
Police ask anyone with information about Couch’s whereabouts to contact the London-Laurel County 911 Center by calling 911 or 606-878-7000.
Couch was described as a 32-year-old, white male, approximately 5’10” in height and weighting approximately 154 pounds.
