A Kentucky tractor-trailer driver was killed early Wednesday when his truck collided with another 18-wheeler and caught fire, state police said.
The accident happened at approximately 2 a.m.
Kentucky State Police were notified by Simpson County Sheriff’s Office of the wreck.
Troopers responded to the scene on I-65 southbound at the 9.8-mile marker.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a red semi operated by Marlin Martin, 34, of Bowling Green, was traveling southbound on I-65 at the 9.8 mile marker.
The red semi was rear-ended by a silver semi operated by Roger Lee Hook, 77, of Wilmington, Ohio. As a result of the collision, the silver semi caught on fire and was extinguished by the Franklin-Simpson Fire Department.
Hook was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner’s Office.
