Kentucky residents who attempt to look at the world’s biggest internet porn site are getting a warning from the site’s owner – time is running out.
Pornhub is warning its users that it will turn off services for users from Kentucky after the state Legislature passed a law that requires such sites to verify the age of a user by forcing them to upload identifying documentation, such as a driver’s license.
The law, passed as House Bill 278, goes into effect on July 15.
The bill was approved unanimously and Gov. Andy Beshear signed it into law.
Pornhub’s warning suggests the site will go dark for Kentucky users on July 10.
“… Your government wants you to give your driver’s license before you can access PORNHUB,” the site’s warning reads. “… We don’t want minors accessing our site and think that preventing that from happening is a good thing. But putting everybody’s privacy at risk won’t achieve that.”
Similar age-verification laws have been passed in other states including Mississippi and Louisiana.
